Dreamcatcher

After watching the series, Heirs, I don’t know what came to mind. I suddenly took a pen and abruptly jotted down my thoughts. Pardon my poorly constructed poem, my erratic grammar  and my confusing stance. :D

Dreamcatcher: A Native American craftwork believed
to give its owner good dreams...

In the canopy of my bed with the windows held ajar
The sky was filled with obscurity, my mind wandering far
Thunder roaring, the wind finally lulled me to sleep
My inner apprehension waned, as I went too deep

Slowly shutting myself away from the busy world
Away from the hustles and of the painless cold
Running away from my troubles and insatiable woes
Fearing that as I sleep soundly hell would break loose

But along with the dark that always steals the light
As nightmare subtly tries to creep every night
A ray of shimmering light tries to find its own way
As if showing the best, with only good things to say

Catching the bad dreams that would dwell in my mind
Now, it is only the best of memories, there I can find
I see a figure shining brightly like the summer sun
The night has calmly passed, indeed it’s over and done

When I woke up, only the nice dream I can seem to remember
The nightmare in my thoughts finally had to surrender.

“Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering,
fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before.”
-Edgar Allan Poe
