Now that everyone is busy
going out on Valentine’s day, as couples give gifts to one another, make plans
and surprises, for single people out there it can be a lonely feeling. Yes, I
get you. Who would want to be at home or be with friends when all couples
around you are being mushy and romantic?
There are really times when you feel at this time or rather at this specific day of the year, you have at least a special someone you can spend it with, right? But instead of whining, overthinking and drowning yourself with negative thoughts, there are actually a lot of things, as a single that you should be grateful for.
Having the chance to get to know yourself.
Not everyone in a relationship is happy. It is sad but that is the harsh reality that some are too afraid to admit. Being single does not have to be a terrible and loathsome experience as you get the chance to get to know who you are, what you want and who you are specifically looking for. A lot of people get into a series of emotional ups and downs with their confusion about so many things and aspects of their life, heart and emotions that would end up in misery. Knowing yourself more does not guarantee you will never have a heartache but sure can save you from unnecessary ones.
Avoid unnecessary heartbreaks.
No one can guarantee you that the next one you will meet is the one or that the relationship is full of happiness. Because the truth it, good relationships do not just happen instantly. It takes work; dedication and a myriad of elements to make things work out. But for sure, you have also heard from your parents, uncles and those who possess that wisdom that only comes with age that there are cases where you can avoid and protect yourself from unnecessary heartache. Listen to your heart. Follow your intuition. Is the person you are seeing worth it? At the end of the day, it is better to be single than to be stuck up in a bad relationship right?
Be grateful for what you have.
Just because you haven’t found that person you want to have a good relationship or a lifetime commitment with does not necessarily mean that you are the unluckiest person in the world. Although, I bet there are some who would think otherwise. But hey, look around you. If you open your eyes, you can witness all of the blessings in your life. Be constantly grateful for what you have. Appreciate the people around you, your family, friends, colleagues and even just a person sitting nearby who had a nice conversation with you as you sit in the park.
Get the chance to have fun and explore.
Singleness is a perfect chance for you to enjoy and explore what life has to offer. Enjoying life does not mean you have to drown yourself in oblivion or to stay in the wee hours of the morning having parties with friends and meeting people. But rather, having that opportunity to really examine one’s life, to know your strength to face your fears and to delight in the fact that every breath and every day that is given to you is something that you should cherish and get the most out of.
Find your way to your special one.
When you are grateful for yourself and for everything that you have, you attract the right people towards your life and that includes that particular person you are looking for. Everyone is special and unique in her own right. What makes it more magical and overwhelming is that feeling that when you have finally found that person and he is there at the right time, for the right reason and under the right circumstances, you know you that you are prepared and you are willing to give it your all for the kind of love that you have always wanted.
