Being a certified foodie, I am always out on a hunt for the best places to eat without having to hurt my pocket. Which better place to satisfy my palette than the university I consider my second home –UP Diliman!
UPD apart from being known as the university ng mga iskolar ng bayan and the home to the ever remarkable oblation, is also a perfect place for a food enthusiast. The campus has nice restaurants and food stalls that would surely delight anyone who wants to try out different dishes at reasonable prices.
Rodicks and FIC Ice Cream
For me, Rodicks serves one of the best tapa meals. Priced at P80, it is a bit more expensive than before, but whenever I dine in at Rodicks, I get to enjoy what I pay for. With just the right amount of grease, oil and the tasty beef that go along well with the egg and rice, this is simply perfect for breakfast or brunch. After having my tapa meal, I went ahead to have FIC ice cream located just adjacent to Rodicks.
FIC ice cream is really pricey when you buy it in malls. But at UPD, you can have as many scoops as you want for half the price, not to mention the variety of flavors available!
This is the perfect combo that you cannot miss out!(placing my exaggerated suggestion here haha)
Chocolate Kiss
If you are into sweets and pastas, another favorite place I like to hangout is Chocolate Kiss located at the Bahay ng Alumni. The cozy restaurant is just a few minutes away from Rodicks. Chocolate Kiss has different variants of Filipino inspired cakes like dayap cake, kahlua, etc. Their tsokolate eh is also one of my favorite drinks.
Art Circle
Located next to Chocolate Kiss is the Art Circle. Yes, they are the same art shop that you see in malls. But what sets it apart from just being an art gallery is that it has a small restaurant inside. They offer pastas and other beverages. Inside the shop, you get to see the artworks as well as the paintings that they sell.
Mang Larry’s Isaw
For me, no food trip will ever be complete without trying Mang Larry’s isaw. If you want to have the best isaw, this is the best place to be. Never mind the carcinogens and the long line. When you eat the best isaw at Mang Larry’s while enjoying the company of your friends, what more can you ask for?
UPD is also a place to jog around. :) |
